The following medications can affect the results of Allergy Skin Testing

If you are taking any of the following medications, they may affect the results of your test. It is advised that you discontinue their use prior to testing. If your medication is doctor prescribed or you are not sure if you should stop taking your medication, please call for advice.

Antihistamines (Discontinue 5-7 days before testing)
Antidepressants/Anti-anxiety/Other Psychiatric Medications (discontinue 48 hours before testing)
H2 Blockers (Discontinue 48 hours before testing)
Beta Blockers (Blood Pressure Medication) generic names typically end in “olol” (discontinue 24 hour before testing)

Allergy Testing cannot be performed if you are:

  • Under the age of 2 years old
  • Pregnant
  • Have asthma
  • Have anaphylaxis
